"Most of us have never really understood that Christianity is not a self-help religion meant to enable moral people to become more moral.  We don't need a self-help book; we need a Savior.  We don't need to get our collective act together; we need death and resurrection and the life-transforming truths of the gospel.  And we don't need them just once, at the beginning of our Christian life; we need them every moment of every day."  ~ Elyse Fitzpatrick & Dennis Johnson

KSBC Holiday Reminders

As you're decking the halls and harking the heralds this Christmas season, here are a couple scheduling things to take note of:
  1. Service Schedule Change - starting this Sunday and going through the first Sunday in January (12/20, 12/27, & 1/3), the service schedule will be 9AM for ABF and 10:15AM for corporate worship.
  2. Christmas on Kossuth Street - tonight is Parents Night Out, Friday night is Christmas Classics on the Big Screen, Saturday is An Old-Fashioned Christmas Luncheon, and Sunday is the Christmas Cantata.  Sounds like the movie night might be a good option for you and a friend!
  3. Christmas Eve Service - Since Christmas is on a Friday, there will be no prayer meeting on that Wednesday the 23rd.  We will be having a Christmas Eve service on Thursday, however.  And we're using candles this year!!  If you're in town, plan on coming.

Builders Breakfast Club

From Emily Rummel:
Remember we're having breakfast during ABF hour on Dec 27.  Either not many people are coming, or not many signed up to bring food!  So please check your schedules and see if you'll be around.  It'll be a great time to hang out and eat!
Right now, here's the list of who's bringing what:

2% gal milk = Arwen and Benj Revis
skim gal milk = Matt and Tanya Niewedde
muffins = Carrie Feruson and Janet Whipple
breakfast casserole = Jit-Tat and Aleda
Bananas = Andy and Emily Rummel

I will try to have the sign up sheet at church this Sunday, or you can email Emily Rummel at ae.rummel@yahoo.com to sign up.  Hope to see you there!

Sunday Preview

  • Builders ABF - Last week, Tyler Johnson walked us through the Old Testament to see the hope of a promised Savior throughout its pages.  This week, Mikel Berger will continue our focus on the coming of Christ, looking more towards the future coming.  It should be a great time of anticipation and celebration!
  • Corporate Worship - The KSBC Adult Choir will be presenting Agnus Dei: The Lamb of God.  We'll also sing some Christmas carols and hear from Pastor Whipple on the truths of the exaltation of Christ found in Philippians 2:9-11.

Hallelujah Chorus by the Silent Monks

Pretty fun rendition of a timeless classic.  I like the robes, too - I'm going to add them to my Amazon wish list . . .
