Welcome / Ministries / College / Salt & Light Christian Fellowship / Who We Are
Salt and Light Christian Fellowship (SLCF) is the college ministry
of Kossuth Street Baptist Church (KSBC) in Lafayette, Indiana. We reach
out to students at Purdue University in West Lafayette.
Our purpose is
to see students reconciled to their Creator through Jesus Christ,
growing in holiness to become like Christ, and becoming an active part
of a local church (KSBC).
Why SLCF Exists
We exist to glorify God.
Through holy lives, and through love for God and for one another, we
can glorify God in a world that is lost in sin. Because of the death
and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, those who believe in
Jesus will no longer be guilty of sin but have eternal life. This gift
of God should be used to glorify the One who loves us and who has set
us free from death to praise Him with changed lives.
We exist to equip students with the gospel.
College is a crucial time in a young man’s or woman’s spiritual
development. Students are no longer able to get by “on their parents’
faith,” and they are prone to be influenced by a fallen world. But for
many, college can be a time of incredible spiritual growth as they
learn to step out in faith and trust God in all things. We want to
teach students the truth of the good news of Jesus Christ and so equip
them to serve the kingdom of God.
We exist to connect students to a local church.
Salt and Light Christian Fellowship was started in the 1980s as a
ministry from our church to the students at Purdue University. We want
students to remain connected to the community and church during their
college years. We believe that students are best equipped to serve our
Lord Jesus Christ by becoming involved in a local church rather than by
distancing themselves from it, “that there may be no division in the body” (I Corinthians 12:25).
Leadership Structure

Campus Houses
We rent three houses between the residence halls and the main
campus. The Light House holds four guys, while
four girls call the Promise Place home. We use these campus houses for
meetings and events throughout the semester. In addition, the International Friendship House is used for offices and as a meeting place for our international student ministry.
