Blessed and satisfied are those who tell the truth, control their anger, work hard, talk right and act kindly. What could be easier? Not only is it not easy, it is impossible without the transforming love of God in Christ. We are learning in our study of Ephesians that our behavior is driven by our sinful hearts that are dead, enslaved and condemned. Because of God’s great love, he provides complete deliverance from sin by faith in Jesus Christ’s substitutionary and atoning death. The good news of the gospel is that God gives hopeless sinners a new heart when they turn from sin to embrace Christ as Savior and Lord.
