Where does KSBC stand on being relevant to the culture?

Question:  What are your thoughts on the John MacArthur book Ashamed of the Gospel? Where does KSBC stand on wanting to be relevant in the culture today versus knowing and understanding Biblical doctrine?

Response:  MacArthur’s book Ashamed of the Gospel is an important and timely warning toward a God-focused, Word-driven and gospel-centered life and ministry.  Its message is as relevant today as it was when first published 17 years ago.

KSBC leadership, ministry philosophy and practice have been heavily influenced by teaching such as this from a number of different authors and sources.  I am committed to a verse by verse, paragraph by paragraph teaching ministry of the scriptures from the pulpit that is intended to be a core life giving component to our church family.  I believe that relevance begins with the words of God clearly taught and applied to life…God sets the agenda for what we teach and preach, not trends or felt needs.

I encourage you to listen to some sermons online or visit our services and classes to check out our commitments and practices for yourself.  Thanks so much for your question!
