Question:
What are your views on progressive Christianity?
Response: Thanks for the question. Not understanding the label "progressive Christianity," I did a brief web search. If by "progressive Christianity" the questioner is referring to the theological positions and values represented in the links below, then we obviously are headed a different direction and would consider the movement and brand name quite dangerous. While sympathetic to the need to address complex issues of life with solid biblical thinking and responsible behavior rather than slogans and separation, we also are obligated to a high view of scripture and the gospel. The scriptures are clear that there is a primary message and method assigned to Christ’s followers that cannot be diluted, ignored or replaced. The preaching of Christ that results in changed lives is the hope of mankind (1 Corinthians 1-2). Responsible behavior and truth-driven, loving compassion are born from and sustained by such clear truth and method.
